College of Agriculture
College of Agriculture is one of the earliest colleges in our university. There are five Bachelor's programs provided for undergraduate in the College (Agronomy, Grass Science, Plant Science and Technology, Tobacco Science and seed Science and Engineering). Besides, the College has mater's degree in seven specialties and Ph.D. degree in seven specialties. Since the establishment of the College, it has a total number of more than 9000 graduates. Graduates can be found everywhere in China and even in many other countries.

The current faculty stands at 103, including 1 academician, 2 "Lotus Scholar", 31 professors, 30 associate professors, 27 doctoral tutors, 32 masters' tutors and 8 experts receiving special allowance from the government.

In order to improve the quality of teaching and the level of research, faculty members are active in writing academic essay. From the State Award for Science and Technology Progress, the college has been awarded 1 first class prize, 2 second class prize and 3 third class prizes.

In addition, the international cooperation is an important part of academic activities of the College. In recent years, it has established close cooperative relationship with around 10 universities and institutes in the USA, Canada, Russia, Japan, India, Philippines and Thailand etc.


College of Animal Science and Technology
The College of Animal Science and Technology was built in 1951.It is made up of powerful faculties, comprehensive subjects, and advanced equipments. Now, there are 60 teachers and administrative staff including 12 professors, 24 associated professors, 4 doctoral supervisors, 22 masters' supervisors. The academician Wu Changxin of the Chinese Academy of Science and 25 visited professors were applied for the college. The college has 3 undergraduate majors: Animal Science, Aquatic Product Breeding, Aquatic Animals Science and Technology and many corresponding course studying independently. There are 1 basic demonstrate lab, 1 "Ten-Five" point subject, with three doctor subjects------Animal Genetic Breeding, Physiology, Feed Crop Production and Application; 6 master subjects----Animal Genetic Breeding, Animal Nutrition and Feed Science, Special Economic Animal Breeding, Aquatic Product Breeding, Fishery resource, Physiology and one agricultural practicing master subject. The college also includes two departments of animal science and aquatic science; 4 institutes----Animal Genetic Breeding, Animal Nutrition, and Aquatic Economical Animals and Plants and some teaching-and practical experiment bases---pig farm, dairy farm, fishery, and feed stuff factory. In addition, The college has established long-term academic relationships with more than 10 countries, such as American, Canada, Russian, Japan, France, Australian, Austria and Thailand etc.

Since 1990s, the college has charged and finished more than 110 national and provincial research and education reform projects.


College of Biosafety Science and Technology
The College of Biosafety Science and Technology was founded in 1950, forms a multi-level and multi-discipline teaching and research system. It offers four Bachelor's programs for undergraduates: Plant Protection, Plant and Animal Quarantine, Biological Information and Biosecurity. It also has 5 doctoral programs: Plant pathology (Provincial key subject), Entomology, Pesticide Science, Microbiology and Biosecurity and Quarantine. During these years, a large number of outstanding undergraduate and postgraduate students have graduated from the College, such as Zhou Jizhong, a person who have won the Presidential Award for Outstanding Young Scientist.

The college has a teacher's team with top-level academic ability. There are 13 professors, 11 associate professors, 10 doctoral tutors, 19 masters' tutors and 14 professional teachers with a doctor's degree. In recent 3 years, the College has gain 7 provincial Award for Science and Technology Progress. Furthermore, it has obtained 34 research projects funded by national, ministerial and provincial sources, including 4 projects from National Natural Science Foundation of China.


College of Bioscience and Biotechnology
College of Bioscience and Biotechnology is a new found College but with a long history of disciplines. Disciplines like Botany, Biochemistry and Plant Physiology are all the earliest founded disciplines in our university. The college setup four majors for undergraduates: Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Bioscience and ecology. There are also 8 majors for master or PH.D degree graduates.

The college employs 89 faculties and staffs. With 68 full time faculties there are 17 professors 28 associate professors and 23 assistant professors. And 13 professors are recognized doctoral graduates supervisor.

There are near 1800 students are studying in the college at present. Of them are 1089 undergraduates, 284 graduates and 269 adult education students.

Since it foundation on March 9, 2005, the college has gained 6 patents and won 3 scientific achievement awards and more than 300 papers are published.

Currently the faculties of the college gained more than 20,000,000 RMB research funds of more than 100 academic projects to support its scientific research and students training.


College of Business
College of Business was established in February, 2006. It is made up of 5 departments: Business Administration, Marketing Management, Accounting, International Trade and comprehensive lab.

The number of staff in the College is 64, including 16 professors and associate professors and 9 masters' tutors. There are 43 teachers with a doctor's degree or with a master's degree, accounting 86% of the total number of teachers.


College of Economics
College of Economics was set up in 1982. It has been boarding teaching and research domain, enlarging the scale of students' enrollment and improving the teaching quality. In addition, it has made great achievements in scientific research. The College is made up of 3 departments: Economic management, Economics and Finance. Currently, the College grants junior college education degree in 1 specialty and bachelors' degree in 3 specialties. There are 1698 undergraduates, 146 masters, 50 doctors and 835 training students and adult-education students.

College of Economics has 1 comprehensive lab, 1 provincial key subject (Agricultural Economic Management), 1 provincial key major (Agricultural Economic Management) and 2 provincial research bases.

The number of faculty in the College reaches 58, including 9 professors, 15 vice professors, 12 doctoral tutors and 17 master tutors. 77.5% of total number of teachers have gained master's degree or above. There are 18 teachers with doctor degree and 16 teachers with master degree.

The college is always placing great emphasis on academic research. By now, the college has obtained more than 70 national and provincial academic projects and has won 40 scientific achievement awards. In addition, It has published more than 600 academic essays.


College of Engineering
College of Engineering consists of department of Agricultural engineering, Department of Mechanics Engineering, Department of Water Conservancy Engineering, Department of Automobile Service Engineering and Engineering Management. The total number of staff is 80, including 6 professors, 19 associate professors, 1 doctoral tutor, 11 masters' tutors and 52 professional teachers. There are over 1324 students study here, of which 23 are masters.

Recent 5 years,12 cousebooks and more than 200 academic essays has published by the college. It obtained over 60 national and professional objects. In addition, the college has gained 16 patents and won 10 scientific achievement awards.


College of Food science and technology
College of Food science and technology was set up in 1986. Currently, the College grants doctors' degree in 5 specialties, masters' degree in 8 specialties and bachelors' degree in 5 specialties junior college education degree in 1 specialty , 1 provincial key subject and 1 provincial key major.

There are more than 1000 students in the College, including undergraduates and postgraduates. The number of staff in the College reaches 60, including 2 advanced experts of Agricultural ministry,10 professors, 20 associate professors.

The active research programs are: Food Chemistry and nutrition, Food Microbiology and Biotechnology, Flavor Chemistry and Sensory Evaluation, Brewing Science, Meat and egg science, Food Processing and Engineering, Plant oil and protein Engineering.

Recent years, The College has won over 50 scientific achievement awards at provincial and ministerial level and has published 50 books. In addition, the College undertakes 30 projects. The research funds are more than 3,000,000 RMB every year.


College of Foreign Language
The College of Foreign Language was founded on September 28, 2002.It grows out the former Foreign Language Teaching and Researching Group and the Department of Foreign Languages. It holds a leading position in the field of agricultural and forestry universities. The College of Foreign Language comprises the Department of English, the Department of Japanese, and the Department of College English. These are 108 faculty members, among whom one is a full professor,18 are associate professors and 37 lectures. Of the faculty, one member is phD degree holder, another is a phD degree candidate, and 51 members are Master degree holders.

Since its founding, tremendous achievements have been made in the fields of teaching, scientific researching, management and the upgrading of the teaching facilities. Take the infrastructural construction as an example, there are 44 rooms for Digital Language Lab, Autonomic Learning Lab, Simultaneous Interpretation Lab, Film-Video, Multimedia Language Lab. The total value comes to 12 million Yuan.

At present, the faculty is undertaking 1 project funded by the National Funds if the Ministry of Education, 9 by the provincial level of Hunan Province, and 59 projects by Hunan Agricultural university. 33 textbooks or reference books and over 300 academic papers have been published in the past years.

The College is responsible for English language courses for students other than English majors at all levels including undergraduates, postgraduates and ph.D. graduates. It also offers the courses for English major and Japanese majors.

Annually, the enrollment of undergraduates is about 900 in the majors of English and Japanese, excluding over 1400 students of adults education and self study. More than 2000 graduates are warmly welcomed by the units where they work after their graduation. The year 2005 marked a new stage in the approval of MA degree for foreign linguistics ans applied linguistics.

In summary, the faculty is an energetic and enterprising team of work. The faculty is making arduous efforts ti become a high-level professional in foreign languages!


College of Horticulture and Landscape
College of Horticulture and Landscape was established in December, 2002. Five bachelor's programs: Horticulture, Garden, Tea Science, Plant Resource Engineering, Chinese Medicinal Herbal Science.

Engineering, Chinese Medicinal Herbal Science. Five MSc programs: Pomology, Tea Science, Vegetable Science, Ornamental Horticulture, Landscape Planning and Design.

Four phD programs: Pomology, Tea Science, Vegetable Science, Ornamental Horticulture.

College of Horticulture and Landscape is comprised of the Department of Pomology Horticulture, Department of Vegetable Horticulture, Department of Ornamental Horticulture, Department of Garden, Department of Tea Science, Department of Resource, Lab Management Centre, Base Management Centre, Tea Science Key Lab of Ministry of Education, National Citrus Breeding Improvement Centre, Institute of Garden plants, Institute of Edible Fungus, provincial Citrus Breeding Centre etc. The number of faculty and staff reaches 98, of which 20 are professors, 27 are associate professors, 12 are lecturer. There are 17teachers with a doctor's degree and 27 teachers with a master's degree.

Since 1995, the college teaching reform is speedily developing. Currently, the college has obtained over 100 academic projects. The total research funds are worth nearly 30,000,000 RMB.

The College has established close cooperative relationship with many universities and research institutes in UK, USA, Italy, Canada, Japan, Australia, Thailand Singapore etc.


College of Humanities and Social Science
College of Humanities and Social Science was found in 2001.

The programs offered by the college are as follows:

Bachelor' program: Law, Sociology (Social Work), Administration of Public Affairs (Public Administration), Labor and Social Safeguard (Labor and Social Security).

Master's program: Advanced Education (High Education), Ideological and Political Education, Marxism (Localization of Marxism in China). There are 59 faculty members in the college at present, including 4 professors, 24 associate professors,1 ph.D tutor, 11 MSc tutors and 17 part-time MSc tutors. There are 45 teachers with a phD degree or a MSc degree, accounting for 90% of the total number of the teacher.

Apart from teaching, faculty members of the college also do research. The college obtained funding from the ministerial or provincial level for 35 projects. The college has won 2 first prize and 1 second prize from Provincial Teaching Achievement, and 1 second prize from National Teaching Achievement. More than 20 monographs, 30 textbooks and 400 academic papers written by the faculty members have been published.


College of Information Science and Technology
College of Information Science and Technology was established in July, 2002. The College has Department of Computer Science, Department of Information Engineering, Department of Electronic Business, Computer Centre of University, Adult-education and Technological Training Centre, Agricultural Information Research Centre, and "Hunan Hongri Information Technology Development Company".

he current faculty and staff stands at 74, including 63 teachers, among whom there are 4 professors, and 11 associate professors. There are 3 phD tutors, 5 MSc tutors and 28 lecturer. Also, there are 4 teachers with a doctor's degree and 24 with a master's degree.

The college offers 3 Bachelor's programs, including "Computer Science and Technology" "Information Engineering" and "Electronic Business". Besides, there are 1 Master's program provided in "Agricultural Information Technology" To October, 2006, the college has undertaken 70 research projects, including 2 "863 national projects". The total research funds are worth 1,340,000RMB. In addition, faculty members of the college have published more than 120 research papers, including 8 papers have been cited by SCI, EI and ISTP, 8 papers have published in international journals and more than 80 papers have published in famous national journals.


College of National Research and Environment
College of National Research and Environment was established in September, 1999. There are 5 Bachelor's programs provided for undergraduates in the College: Agricultural Resources and Environment, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Soil Resources Management. Besides, the College has doctors' degree in 5 specialties, master degree in 8 specialties and 3 institutes.

The number of the staff reaches 80, including 19 professors, 22 associate professors, 22 doctoral tutors and 12 masters' tutors. There are 22 teachers with a doctor degree and 16 with a master's degree.

International cooperation and exchange has been an important activity of the College. Long term collaborative associations have been established with USA, Japan, Norway, Canada and France etc.

These three years, the College has chaired or participated in 50 ministerial or provincial projects. The total research funds are worth more than 60,000 RMB. The College has won 10 scientific achievement awards at national and ministerial level. It has published more than 600 academic essays.


College of Vocational Technology Education
College of Vocational Technology Education was built in 1986. At present, there are 36 faculties, including 15 professors and associate professors, and 5 doctoral supervisors and masters' supervisors. In addition, the college sets up 3 research offices: Vocational Technology Education, Psychology, Educational Technology and 2 institutes: Vocational Technology and College Students' Mental Health Education. 18 educational undergraduate programs, and 1 graduate program. Furthermore, the college has won second prize in Teaching Reform Achievement from Ministry of Education, and obtained more than 20 provincial Social Science and Teaching Reform Achievements. Also, it is a college of high repute for rural vocational teaching research and training of professional teachers.


College of Science
College of science was established in March, 1997. It includes three Departments: Applied Chemistry, Information Science and Applied Physics. It offers two Bachelor's programs for undergraduates: Information and Computer Science and Applied Chemistry. Presently, there are 3000 undergraduates and post graduates in the College.

The faculty in the College amounts to 88, including 7 professors, 23 associate professors, 2 doctoral tutors and 11 master tutors. There are 12 teachers with a doctor's degree and 54 teachers with a master's degree. The College has a group of young teachers with top-level academic ability.

The College has undertaken 50 research projects funded by national, ministerial and provincial sources. From the provincial Award for Science and Technology Progress, the College has been awarded 1 second class prize and 2 third class prize. In addition, it has gained 1 national patent. In these years, faculty members of the College have published more than 100 academic essays (5 papers have been cited by CSI) and 10 coursebooks.


College of Sport and Art
College of Sport and Art was founded in December 2005. It consists of the departments of Art Design, Sports For All, College Physical Education and the Centre of Sports Training. The college contains the disciplines of Art Design and Sports For All. Indoor Zoology Design and Vision Communication Design are two specialty directions under the discipline of Art Design, and the discipline of Art Design is entitled to confer masterí»s degree of City Planning in cooperation with College of Horticulture and Landscape.

With about 200 full-time undergraduates, the college has a faculty of high competence and rational structure. The faculty consists of 56 full-time employees, including 4 professors, 12 associate professors, 8 instructors. And among them there are 12 young teachers with masterí»s Degree, 1 national coach of sports for all, 1 national referee, 16 first-grade referees, 5 second-grade referees and 2 directors of Design Artist Association of Hunan Province. In addition, our college employs 7 part-time professors.The aim for Department of Sport For ALL is to foster senior personnel with the basic theory, knowledge and skills in their specialty, and enable them to become eligible governors, directors, consulters, managers, teachers and researchers in the realm of sports for all. The aim for Department of Art Design is to foster senior designers with creativity that can work in the realms of indoor design, environment art design, multi-media design, animator design, package design and advertisement design.


College of Veterinary Medicine
The College of Veterinary Medicine was established in December 2005 on the basis of the previous Department of Veterinary Medicine, a division of the College of Animal Science and Technology in Hunan Agricultural University. More than 4500 Students were graduated since the first class of the students was admitted in 1957.

There are 72 full-time faculty and staff members including 13 professors and 15 associate professors, working in three departments: Veterinary Medical Basic Sciences, Veterinary Clinical Medicine and Preventive Veterinary Medicine. The college offers training programs for bachelorí»s degree, masterí»s and PhD degree. It has approximately 450 undergraduate students, 78 masterí»s graduate students and 18 PhD Students. The professional curriculum prepares veterinary students for a wide variety of careers. Throughout the four-year program, students learn the skills and knowledge required to become successful veterinarians. The Veterinary Teaching Hospital in the college provides patients for the teaching of clinical medicine. Taught by an outstanding faculty, students pursue master's or Ph.D. degrees in diverse disciplines including molecular biology, physiology, pharmacology, pathology, toxicology, infectious diseases, microbiology, molecular virology, immunology, parasitology, diagnostics, surgery, internal medicine, and theriogenology.

In present, the College is taking more than 40 scientific grants with millions of Yen supported by National and Provincial Departments. In addition, we have established long-term academic relationships with more than 10 countries, such as American, Canada, Russian, Japan, France, Australian, Austria and Thailand etc.


International College
International College of Hunan Agricultural University provides a rich, cultural learning experience in an English-speaking environment. The college was established in 2003.

During these three years, International College has established a steady and cooperative relationship with the University of Greenwich and the University of Wales Bangor in the United Kingdom, the University of South Australia in Australia, and the College of the North Atlantic in Canada.

Training Model: "2+2": studying for 2 years in China and 2 years abroad. "3+1": studying for 3 years in China and 1 year abroad.

Undergraduate program: Business Administration, Computer Science and Technology, Finance and Insurance.

The college offers English course teaching given by foreign teachers, English course teaching given by Chinese teachers, professional course teaching given by foreign teachers, and professional course teaching given by Chinese teachers. We have high-level foreign teachers coming from USA, Canada, Australia and other English-speaking countries.

At present, there are nearly 300 students in the college, of which 29 are studying abroad. Among senior students, nearly 30 have passed IELT (International English Language Test), including one student named Long Xueqiong, who has got band score 7.0.
